University College Roosevelt (UCR) was founded in 2004 to bring Liberal Arts and Sciences education to the Netherlands in a small-scale, international, and student-centered way. As part of Utrecht University, UCR offers a vibrant community of 550 students and 50 staff in the historic city of Middelburg, where medieval streets, cafés, and libraries are right outside your classroom, and the beach is just a short bike ride away.
With students from more than 60 countries, UCR is global by nature and close-knit by design. Everyone lives in guaranteed student housing near campus, studies in buildings named after the Roosevelts, and becomes part of a community where diverse perspectives meet and everyone belongs.
At UCR, you shape your own program from over 150 courses across disciplines. Small, interactive classes encourage debate, collaboration, and critical thinking, while Community Engaged Learning connects academic study with real-world challenges. From working with local schools and entrepreneurs to tackling issues like climate change, AI, and global inequality, your education will be both personal and impactful.
