In your chosen track - Corporate Finance, Investments or International Finance - you will acquire deep and systematic knowledge of the driving forces behind companies, markets and economies.

You learn to analyse and explain complex financial and business problems. In addition, you will be setting up and executing a scientifically sound research project, based on a financial problem of your own choice.

Core courses and electives help you to get acquainted with a wide range of topics that are essential for financial economics and provide you with a solid background for attending the seminars. For these intensive courses, active participation is a must. You are expected to present excerpts of literature or case applications, ask questions, express doubts and share your ideas in class discussions.

After graduation:

With a specialisation in Financial Economics, you are all set to embark on an exciting career in the Netherlands or in international financial centres such as London or New York. A wide range of opportunities exists within multinationals, banking / insurance, private equity / asset management and government bodies such as central banks or treasury departments.

This programme takes an economic and quantitative approach to health care. It includes insights into what makes this sector so different and the economic evaluation of health care programmes. This study leads to a degree that is valued all over the world. As one of the top centres for health economic research and teaching we are able to equip our students with concepts and tools for economic and econometric analysis of health care. You will learn how to assess the cost-effectiveness of new medicines or treatments, how to design health insurance programmes that are fit for purpose in the 21st century and to make an informed contribution to debates on how we can deal with the rising medical costs and anticipate population aging. After graduation: Health economists are in high demand by insurance firms, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, international organisations and government institutions to name just a few. This study also provides you with an excellent starting point for a career in academia.

In this wide–ranging, practice oriented programme you address the effects that increased interdependence of economies has on governments, firms, their managers and employees.

You will explore and analyse the progressive integration of international goods, labour and capital markets and the decline of national barriers that separated them in the past. You will learn how best to allocate resources, organise businesses and make recommendations based on first-rate analyses.

Marketing in the 21st century has become a multi-disciplinary activity. Development of new products and services and introducing these in current or new markets is no longer a sequential activity. It is now a joint effort of cooperating groups. This master programme is moulded accordingly. You can expect frequent group assignments, asking you to combine your group's creativity and efforts to solve cases, compile and analyse data, and formulate conclusions and recommendations.

The Policy Economics programme at Erasmus School of Economics is unique in the Netherlands. It is explicitly designed to educate future policy makers. The curriculum prepares you for a career as a policy economist who is able to apply the most appropriate theory and empirical methods to solve real-world policy problems. This involves public economics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics and several electives. There are two intensive seminars in which you will become familiar with applied research techniques and have a choice between analysing policy issues or estimating modern macroeconomic models. After graduation: Good policy economists are scarce and your career perspectives will be excellent. After graduating you are able to work as an applied policy economist at ministries, applied research institutes, bureaus for policy analysis, and international institutions.

This programme is predominantly built on the idea that entrepreneurship and innovation are what make people, firms and industries successful. In this programme, you will focus on phenomena like new technologies, shifting consumer preferences, economic crises and innovation that pose constant challenges and opportunities. You will acquire the analytical tools that are necessary for making the right decisions in a highly dynamic environment. This includes a good knowledge of relevant economic theories as well as quantitative skills for carrying out independent empirical research. You will lay the foundation in core courses and apply your knowledge to real-life problems and data in the highly interactive seminars. It is up to you whether you put an emphasis on entrepreneurship and small business or strategy and big firms. After graduation: A degree in Industrial Dynamics and Strategy prepares you for a wide spectrum of career opportunities. Our alumni are: consultants, business analysts, policy makers (for international organisations like the OECD), (applied) researchers, entrepreneurs and government officials.

Transport, logistics and modern cities are essential for a well-functioning economy. The Urban, Port and Transport Economics programme focuses on how to optimise these key elements of modern society.

Our lecturers are actively involved in the latest developments in international economic research, consultancy and advice. Through interactive lectures, challenging assignments and lively debates they will show you how to apply the appropriate methods – both qualitative and quantitative – when dealing with a wide range of real-life issues. How do we find smart ways to deal with congestion and pollution? What role can city planning play in achieving productive cross fertilisation between all available sources of knowledge and enterprise? What is the future of ports in the logistics chain? This programme teaches you to look at such important issues in a way that is both scientific and practicaI.

After graduation:

Our graduates end up in big multinationals (Nike, ING, Unilever), big logistics firms (the largest shipping and logistics companies), as well as public jobs (the port of Rotterdam, agencies for economic development) and consultancies. They deal with varying topics ranging from optimising supply chains and logistics networks, to making large real estate decisions and devising city growth strategies.
