The two-year graduation track Ecology Futures focuses on how bioart and biodesign can create alternative futures. In which present-day ecological concerns are addressed.
This is a graduation track of the master of Arts in Fine Art & Design.
Ecology Futures states clearly what we stand for: not a singular future, but a plural one. Not an individual being disconnected from others, but rather an assemblage of many entities. Living, decaying, human, other-than-human, connections forming and re-forming as circumstances warrant. This alternative future needs education that draws from many domains.
That's why Ecology Futures is trans- and multi-disciplinary. You learn how to work with living materials in a laboratory, read theoretical and historical texts that support your practice and engage with life outside the classroom through hands-on fieldwork. Manipulating the analog and the digital to realize your projects.
Your time in Ecology Futures prepares you to address difficult problems, not only related to ecology but any domain that requires the input of multiple skillsets.
You will have access to the Material Incubator Lab of the Centre of Applied Research for Art, Design, and Technology (CARADT). This is a unique feature of our programme where you develop laboratory skills that support your practice-led artistic research.

Tijdens het tweejarige uitstroomprofiel Health by Design werk je samen met studenten uit verschillende disciplines. Je werkt aan ontwerpend onderzoek voor positieve bijdragen in gezondheid en welzijn.
Dit is een uitstroomprofiel binnen de master of Arts in Fine Art & Design.
Als health designer ontwikkel je kennis en praktische vaardigheden om een transdisciplinaire benadering en co-design toe te passen. Hierbij voeg je waarde toe aan complexe uitdagingen op het gebied van gezondheid en welzijn. En bevorder je je carrière in een snel evoluerend vakgebied.
Overal ter wereld verandert de manier waarop we denken, waarbij we individuen zien als meer dan alleen hun ziektes. Kunst en design spelen een belangrijke rol bij het samen bedenken van ethische vernieuwingen. Bij Health by Design leer je hoe je kunt omgaan met de uitdagingen van vandaag en kansen kunt benutten. En leer je hoe je kunt bijdragen aan deze nieuwe manier van denken.
Samenwerken met mensen uit verschillende vakgebieden zoals kunst, ontwerp, technologie, ethiek, onderzoek en gezondheidszorg verrijkt je werk. Tijdens het uitstroomprofiel kun je een uniek netwerk opbouwen van collega's en professionals. The graduation track Situated Design recognizes you as a distinct presence in the world. You immerse in modern discourses and focus on prevailing conditions, situated knowledge and design practices.
This is a graduation track of the master of Arts in Fine Art & Design.
Your studies will take place within a diverse community of master's students from different backgrounds. You frequently collaborate with each other, across pathways and outside of the campus. This way you gain experience in a wide range of practices and establish a valuable network. Situated Design maintains strong connections with designers, publishers and institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.
During your study, you can use our dedicated master studio spaces in which we focus on improving your ability to engage with emerging technologies with critical reflection and mindfulness. Our outstanding workshop and technical facilities provide courses ranging from print, wood ceramics and metal, to immersive and iterative storytelling and interactive media.
The graduation track Situated Design is distinguished by the quality of its teaching, research and practice. Our motivated team, strengthened by professors of expertise centre Caradt, is committed to supporting ambitious and diverse creative research practices and approaches.

In the graduation track Visual Arts you develop practice- and process-based research with students from other disciplines. In a setting that connects cultural studies, visual and digital cultures.
This is a graduation track of the master of Arts in Fine Art & Design.
In an interdisciplinary learning environment, you develop independent and collaborative research projects. Through a theoretically informed critical approach, you develop your practice in a peer-to-peer context.
During Visual Arts you are invited to create strategies and develop practices that expand the social and aesthetic sense of society. You are stimulated to re-envision artistic engagement through an open and creative process.
The aim of the graduation track is to enable you to develop intellectual and practical skills as a starting artist. And to be more confident in your practice and role in relation to society.
Visual Arts offers you studio spaces, workshop and technical facilities, including a Techlab with VR/AR and interactive media. And you have access to workshops film & photography, print, wood, ceramics, metal, supported by a team of experienced staff.
The graduation track maintains strong connections to key institutions in the Netherlands and abroad, including V2_Lab for Unstable Media Rotterdam, Impakt Festival Utrecht, Stedelijk Museum Breda.
