Software technology has a major impact on the economies of industrialised countries.
Information-processing systems provide the backbone for almost all administrative and logistic operations within commercial production, business and public administration. Without software, high-tech systems are useless, whether large (e.g., a self-driving car or a robot for computer-assisted surgery) or small (e.g., a smartphone or an ordinary electronic card payment system). Moreover, software permeates all aspects of our life in society, ranging from Internet-based services like e-mail, online games, social networks and cloud computing, to large-scale scientific computing systems, traffic control systems and wireless sensor systems. All these systems need to have effective algorithms for their correct operation, good performance, high reliability and a well-thought-out architecture to make them easy to build and to maintain. Such essential features very well describe the specific focus of the Software Technology track.

The richness and importance of the information conveyed by data has led to a rapid increase in the influence of data on individuals and society.
Data of various kinds, such as the enormous data collections on the Internet, has become omnipresent in virtually all aspects of our society. Digital data has become the key to innovations in both social and scientific domains ranging from energy, economy, health and climate to bioinformatics and web science.

In the Data Science and Technology track of the Computer Science MSc programme, you will learn how to engineer and develop systems capable of processing and interpreting massive data sets to extract important information. Fundamental and practical issues of the analysis of data will be addressed, including e.g. security of data and software, visualization of information, decision making from data, and high performance computing algorithms.

IT Digital - ICT Innovation is a European joint degree programme organised by the EIT Digital Master School in cooperation with a consortium of leading European Universities. The programme has a strong focus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which prepares you for a career in business development within existing companies or for an entrepreneurial career by creating your own start-up. The two-year master is based on the Erasmus Mundus scheme where you study one year at an “entry” university and one year at an “exit” university.
