Is it your future ambition to write a doctoral dissertation? Then you are strongly advised to first complete the Master of Research in Reformed Theology.
The research Master's programme Theology & Religious Studies offers you the opportunity to study Theology, both contextual and classical, at an advanced level. VU University Amsterdam offers Theology in the following disciplines: Biblical Studies, Church History, Dogmatics, Ecumenics, World Religions, Philosophy of Religion, Practical Theology, and the Social-Scientific Study of Religion. The specialization you choose will define the content of your specific programme. You will take a number of required courses to develop your general research skills and a number of electives that cover the various aspects of your chosen field.
Theology & Religious Studies (research) is the gateway to writing a doctoral dissertation. You are required to take this two-year programme on a full-time basis. The focus of the programme is threefold: you will gain an overview of your chosen field, develop your general research skills in classes with students from different fields, and you will be guided through the process of writing your MA thesis.
