Taal- en spraakpathologie

Het masterpogramma taal- en spraakpathologie (TSP) leidt je op tot wetenschappelijk onderzoeker op het gebied van de taal- en spraakstoornissen.

'Dat ding waar je iets op kunt zetten.' Mensen met afasie weten wel wat een tafel is, in hun hersenen is alleen het woord ervoor zoek. Mensen met dysartie hebben het woord wel paraat, maar hun spieren weigeren om dit verstaanbaar uit te spreken. 'Wawe' zeggen ze bijvoorbeeld. Je bestudeert deze stoornissen vanuit taalkundige kennis over normaal taal- en spraakgedrag. Behalve interesse in taal moet je ook techniek en statistiek leuk vinden. Je leert omgaan met geavanceerde (computer)technieken om stoornissen vast te stellen en vooruitgang na therapie te meten. Dit masterprogramma staat bekend als pittig. Maar ook als uitdagend. Als student krijg je de kans mee te draaien in vernieuwende klinische projecten. De Nijmeegse onderzoeksgroep werkt nauw samen met de Sint Maartenskliniek (SMK) en het UMC St Radboud. Samen lopen ze voorop in het inzetten van technische hulpmiddelen bij taal- en spraakstoornissen. De SMK ontving bijvoorbeeld de Nationale Zorgvernieuwingsprijs voor de hier ontwikkelde E-health Speech Therapy (EST): logopedische therapie via de computer.

Language use is one of our most complex cognitive abilities. Within Dutch Linguistics, you will get an advanced linguistic training in your target language while putting together your own programme.

But they also adjust their language in different situations, for example, when listening to someone with a different dialect or sociolect, when speaking to foreigners, when reading a novel or an e-mail, when speaking on the phone, and when chatting. If you choose to study Linguistics in Nijmegen you will have a unique opportunity to put together your own programme. With the exception of your thesis, all subjects are optional. You can choose from a wide range of interesting advanced topics in fields as diverse as psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, second language learning, language description and linguistic diversity. You will be working closely with top researchers. In fact, you will be in the middle of a research environment where important discoveries are being made and the chances are that you will be involved in some of them.

You can choose from a wide range of interesting advanced topics in fields as diverse as psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, second language learning, language description and linguistic diversity. You will be working closely with top researchers. In fact, you will be in the middle of a research environment where important discoveries are being made and the chances are that you will be involved in some of them. We really take care of our students and pay special attention to the (practical) needs of international students. We have a lot of experience with students from all over the world coming here to study and we help you to hit te ground running. The courses are very intensive and you will learn a great deal in one year. You can also expect to 'grow' academically. there are great opportunities for internships at leading institutes in the Netherlands. Linguistics is taught at a very high level in Nijmegen, and we are known for our excellent teaching and research.
