In the National Student Survey (NSE), students are asked to share their opinion about their course programme and institution via an online questionnaire.
The goal of the NSE questionnaire is two-sided: to provide information for prospective students in choosing programmes and to institutions in setting policies.
The NSE is primarily a satisfaction survey using a Likert scale. Each student is asked to share how satisfied they are on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 = very unsatisfied and 5 = very satisfied (and 6 = n/a). Additionally, the questionnaire includes several ‘clarification questions’, such as: ‘The number of testing moments (exams, reports, presentations, etc.) in your programme is: Far too few / Too few / Just right / Too many / Much too many.’
