In the Master in Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics you acquire extensive knowledge of epidemiology, statistics and economics, and techniques for the economic analysis of epidemiological data.
The Master programme in Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics is an 18-month, non-subsidised programme (see website for payment information). You will acquire extensive knowledge of epidemiology, statistics and economics, techniques in the economic analysis of epidemiological data, and the ability to apply theoretical epidemiological and health research concepts to practical veterinary medicine.
In total, 6 months of this 18-months programme will consist of courses in epidemiology, statistics, study design, animal health economics and scientific writing, as well as practical training in statistical analyses and computer statistical programmes. The other 12 months will be spent on a research project applying a variety of epidemiological and statistical methods. A research topic can be selected from within one of the research programmes of the Department of Farm Animal Health or in one of the other programmes of the Institute of Veterinary Research (IVR). Graduates of the programme are prepared for further PhD studies, or for veterinary research and disease control programmes, including application in developing countries.

Varianten
In the Master Veterinary and Molecular Pathology you gain knowledge of animal diseases, their pathogenic mechanisms and the morphological and molecular aspects of diseases.
The Master programme Veterinary and Molecular Pathology is an 18-month, non-subsidised programme (see website for payment information) offered full-time. This post-graduate programme is aimed at graduates in veterinary medicine, with at least one year of relevant professional experience. The programme focuses on research of mechanism of animal diseases. You gain expertise in basic and specialised molecular research techniques at a theoretical and practical level. Experience in animal pathology is gained during specialised classes and practical work. This programme is for veterinarians who have at least one year of professional experience in animal pathology or disease diagnosis. During the first six month of the programme you follow courses such as 'Introduction to General Pathology', Special Pathology', Laboratory Techniques', 'Necropsy of Domestic and Exotic Animals' and 'Laboratory Animal Science.' The following twelve months will be spent on a research project involving the following activities: study design, work planning, experiments, data collection and analysis, all leading towards a manuscript for publication in a double refereed journal.
