Brain and Cognitive Sciences (research)
The brain is an immensely powerful and intricate processing device. The research master Brain and Cognitive Sciences is for those who wish to study the brain from an interdisciplinary point of view.
In recent years we have seen rapid developments in the neurosciences as well as the behavioural and computer sciences that are all aimed at gaining a better understanding of the processes involved in the acquisition and use of knowledge in humans and animals, as well as in artificial systems. The Research Master's programme in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) offers a broad selection of tracks that investigate all aspects of the field, from the molecule to the mind. Students can choose between three tracks:
Behavioural Neuroscience
Cognitive Neuroscience
Cognitive Science
In the Research Master Brain and Cognitive Sciences we strongly believe that a top-level training in each of these fields requires a basic understanding of the developments in other areas of Cognitive Science. In a nutshell: the present Master programme aims to train students to become experts in their specific subfield of the Brain and Cognitive Sciences but with a clear understanding and appreciation of the contribution made by the other subfields.
